Winner: Stefan Paz Berrios is a recent graduate of the MA in Digital Media Technology at DIT, Aungier Street. Stefan has been involved in interactive media for about 10 years, and is currently working on developing a multi-touch system.
Project Title: ‘i-Discover’

Summary:
‘i-Discover’ is an Adobe Flash project, designed to teach children between the ages of four and six about the solar system, its planets, their relations with each other and their compositions. It operates as an interactive installation, utilising pressure mats, a projector, a Nintedo Wii remote control and an LED pen which sets it free from the confinements of a regular desktop environment (computer, mouse, keyboard).

In this context, the planets are being explored, but – by using this tool – any subject or content from a third party can be communicated and taught in a highly immersive active learning environment. This application is designed to be flexible, and can expand to include content specific to a particular curriculum, or even a specific teacher and their class.
