Best in Show 2011 is supported by the following companies and organisations, who have given their time to judge the entries, and provide a work experience placement to the successful graduates.
Animation:
Igloo Animations is an innovative award winning Animation Studio established in 2008 by director Trevor Courtney. They create content for E-Learning - Children & Adults, Advertising, Multi-Media, Television, and Short Films. In 2010 Igloo Animation launched 'Gimme The Short Version' - a service in which animated characters will explain any topic, in an easy to understand, visual, short version, which can be used on websites and in presentations.
To date a variety of short versions have been produced for a wide selection of high profile companies such as Bord Na Mona, ESB, The Environmental Protection Agency and The National Trust Scotland.
Audio/Music Production:
Athena Media is a multimedia production and consultancy company based in the Digital Hub since May 2004.
It is led by Helen Shaw and produces radio, television, online and text projects. It is the company behind Ireland's premier podcasting portal, PodcastingIreland.ie, and the creator of the portal's channels O2 Making Waves, a new Irish music show, and Vhi Health Club, a consumer health show.
Recent productions by Athena Media are ‘Winning Women’, an eight part series for Setanta Sports celebrating Irish female sports stars, ‘Women and Words’, a six part series for RTÉ Lyric FM about Irish female writers, and ‘Is It Just Me?’ a ten part series for RTÉ 2 Young Peoples Programming about positive journeys through teenage years.

Riviera Media Group is a a sonic branding agency. RMG create cross-media sonic branding, train radio groups in the creative-led sell and are actively involved in researching the power and influence of sound. RMG clients include Unilever, Samsung, Warner Village Cinemas/Vue, Coca-Cola, Bauer GMG and Smooth.
The mission of Digital Skills Academy is to deliver innovative learning programmes in digital skills.
Currently focused education & training for the digital media sector, the Academy designs and develops innovative ‘blended’ learning solutions using 21st Century learning techniques, and our methodology is built on the following pillars:

Digital Design:
Red Dog is recognised as a leading design and creative communications agency based in Dublin, working for national and international clients in both commercial and not-for-profit sectors. They boast eighteen years of consistent, highly coveted, award winning creativity. Red Dog is very much a creativity-led company, their emphasis from day one has been for straight-forward, excellent design that works. No fuss! Today the company has grown to a fifteen strong team led by Mary Doherty, Managing and Creative Director, supported by a team of experienced managers and creative thinkers.
Their services and offering have evolved with their business and they are now geared to servicing long term relationships with clients, and have a specialism in accessible design having established guidelines for several national organisations who have embraced inclusivity for all in their visual communications.
Digital media is an ever growing area and without abandoning the traditional methods of communicating, Red Dog are embracing technological advances full on. They are now providing clients with visual communication packages that include online promotional activity, video, animations and campaign strategies.
Film/Video Production:
Areaman Productions is a creative partnership between Tom Burke and Shane Hogan.
Tom has been creating video of all shapes and sizes since he could hold a camera. He has written, edited and directed documentaries for RTE and TG4. He is the writer/director of 'Sculpting Life – The Work of Rowan Gillespie' which was shown to critical acclaim in 2007 on RTE One. Shane was Paris Field Producer of Fashion Television for over a decade and has also worked for Entertainment Tonight at Cannes Film Festival, World Music Awards & MTV Video Music Awards.
Areaman’s ‘The Liberties’, about the well known Dublin community of that name, screened in the IFI Stranger than Fiction Festival in June 2009. A 52 minute version was subsequently aired on RTÉ One in September 2009. ‘140 Characters’ was created in association with The Digital Hub & Temple Bar Cultural Trust for Innovation Dublin in October 2009 & was screened in Meeting House Square, Dublin.
Shane Hogan and Tom Burke are members of the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland and Screen Producers Ireland.
Multimedia:

Office Skills:
The Centre was established in 1996 and currently provides second chance education to over 300 adults each year, from the Dublin 8 community.. The need for second-chance education is highlighted in the 2006 census; 30% of the population of the South West Inner City have lower second level education at most; of those 21% have no formal educational qualifications whatever. There is a huge demand for basic literacy and numeracy and also for computer skills and these are the needs the Centre continues to meet by providing a range of FETAC accredited courses.
